Sunday 12th September was lovely and sunny, and a perfect late summer's day in Brighton. Perfect that is unless you were running 26.2 miles. Or 26.6 miles, to be precise!
While the beautiful weather was ideal for those enjoying a sunny day at the seaside, it made the already tough task of running the Brighton Marathon that bit harder. As did the extra distance that had to be covered because the course was measured 568m too long. ''The extra distance was the reason I was 18 minutes over my PB'' (Personal Best) joked John Wright, owner of it'seeze Web Design Horsham

John was one of over 7,500 runners that took part in the 2021 Brighton Marathon. While the extra distance was something that the runners could have done without, it didn't spoil a fantastic return for the Brighton Marathon; the first one since 2019 . ''It was a superb day'' said John ''The crowds came out in their thousands to cheer us all on. It makes such a difference when you're tired and just willing your body along to the finish line.''

Despite not achieving a new marathon PB, John did reach his main objective of raising £500 for Jane's Wish. ''Jane's Wish is a wonderful charity that organises and funds activities and days out for children in Sussex, that are affected by cancer.'' John explained. ''I'm delighted to have helped raise some money to help them in a small way'' he added.

The marathon completes a busy year of fundraising for John, following the wing walk that he did to raise money for Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice. So what's next? 'A rest' replied John! But not for long. it'seeze Horsham are currently finalising details with a local charity who will become their Charity Partner for 2022. Watch this space for details of the charity, and the exciting events that we are planning, to raise funds for another amazing cause.
